1. (a) Jamsetji Tata

Jamsetji Tata, the founder of Tata Group, has emerged as the biggest philanthropist globally in the last century by donating $102 billion, according to the list of top 50 givers prepared by the Hurun Report and EdelGive Foundation. Tata is the only Indian in the top 10 list, ahead of others such as Bill Gates and his now-estranged wife Melinda who donated $74.6 billion, George Soros ($34.8 billion), Warren Buffet ($37.4 billion), and John D. Rockefeller ($26.8 billion).

2. (b) Cristiano Ronaldo 

Portugal striker Cristiano Ronaldo has become the joint top-scorer in international men’s football. The striker is currently tied with Italian football legend Ali Daei at the top position with 109 goals. Ronaldo achieved the major feat during Portugal’s Euro 2020 game against France on June 23, 2021 at the Puskas Arena in Budapest. He scored two goals to reach the spot. Now, he has 109 goals from 176 matches.

3. (d) Cochin International Airport

The Cochin International Airport Ltd won the Airport Council International Director General’s Roll of Excellence honour on June 23, 2021 for Airport Service Quality. The Airport Council International is a global body of airport operators. It established the Roll of Excellence to recognise the airports which, in the opinion of the passengers, have consistently delivered excellent services in the Airport Service Quality Survey.

4. (a) Mohit Chauhan

India has launched its official Olympic Theme Song ahead of the Summer Olympics in July-August in Tokyo, Japan. The song is titled ‘Lakshya Tera Samne Hai’ and it has been composed and sung by Playback Singer Mohit Chauhan.

5. (b) New Zealand 

New Zealand was crowned ICC World Test Champions after beating India on the final day of the World Test Championship at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton, England on June 23, 2021. India had got all-out for 170 runs in the second innings, leaving New Zealand to chase a small total of 140 runs. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor helped steer the Kiwis to an 8-wicket victory in the final hour of a nail-biting reserve day.

6. (d) Jamaica

Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce became the second-fastest woman after she ran the 100 meters in 10.63 seconds at the JOA/JAAA’s Destiny Olympic meet in Kingston held on June 5, 2021. She now has the fastest time in 33 years and the fourth-best in history. She now stands behind Florence Griffith-Joyner, the 100-meters world record holder with a timing of 10.49 seconds.

7. (b) 9.5 percent 

S&P Global Rankings on June 24, 2021, cut India’s growth forecast for FY22 to 9.5 percent from 11 percent earlier and further warned of the risk to the current outlook due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

8. (c) Mizoram 

The Indian Government and the World Bank have signed a $32 million Mizoram Health Systems Strengthening Project for improving the management capacity and the quality of health services in Mizoram. The project will be particularly for the benefit of under-served areas and vulnerable groups.
